IP "Periphery" and IP "Core": Knowledge in the (Dis)service of Public Interest: In past decades, IP protection has been on steroids, drawing in any and every subject matter; shrinking flexibilities and exceptions to the point of asphyxiation of the public interest. In this moment of forced soul-searching, the IP periphery confronts the IP core, redirecting attention to collaborative knowledge production, to put the public interest back into IP.
